Housing Authorities

At S&A we provide audit services to Tribal Housing Authorities.

Over the past several years, the demands and responsibilities for Tribal Housing Authorities have increased considerably. And with these changes, the accounting demands have also increased. We at Stauffer & Associates have worked with our clients to help them through these changes. We understand the NAHASDA regulations and their requirements; we also have considerable experience in assisting our clients in implementing GASB 34 reporting requirements for Tribal Housing Authorities.

We have been able to assist our Tribal Housing Authority clients to meet these additional demands and to develop a system and help them to succeed. We provide management consulting and accounting services including converting accounting records to GAAP basis, developing subsidiary schedules to record and maintain Mutual Help records, assisting with the conveyance of Mutual Help homes, developing checklists to ensure all tenant files for both low-rent and Mutual Help projects are complete, as well as other important tasks. We are most proud of our success in the development and training of our clients’ staff during the performance of these services. We provide, hands on, “side by side” training during our visits to maximize the potential of your staff and to move them toward self sufficiency. We have also established excellent working relationships with several Department of Housing and Urban Development personnel. These relationships can prove crucial if your Housing program has experienced operational or financial challenges.

Schools/Colleges

Tribal colleges represent one of the most important and positive elements in Tribal Government. The long-term success of both the individual Tribal membership as well as the overall Tribal Government will be determined by each Tribe’s ability to continue to improve the educational attainment of its membership.

We understand that student enrollment is an essential element for the Tribal Colleges to function, as well as to continue to receive its funding. Offering as many programs and opportunities as possible for students is imperative for the future of these organizations. Our experience with our clients has provided us with the knowledge to assist you in making your accounting and financial operations as effective and efficient as possible. By providing assistance with student accounts receivable records, grant and contract management, accreditation and program reviews, training of employees and program managers, strengthening internal control procedures, preparing for annual audits, we have been instrumental in strengthening the operations of our Tribal College clients. We will partner with your management and staff to assist your Tribal College in reaching its full potential.
